The National Healthcare Enhancement Foundation (NHEF) is a registered non-profit organisation in Jamaica, dedicated to managing, administering and mobilising philanthropic contributions to benefit the country’s public-health sector.
Established on 27 February 2022, the NHEF operates as an agency of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, serving as the principal gateway for donors to support Jamaica’s public-healthcare system.
To enhance its value to stakeholders, NHEF is committed to strengthening Jamaica’s public-health system by providing services that simplify the donation process across three key areas:
We facilitate, administer and co-ordinate an efficient, end-to-end process for the donation of goods and services to Jamaica’s public-health sector.
We facilitate, administer and co-ordinate an effective, end-to-end process for medical health missions in Jamaica.
Given our charitable status, we facilitate relief from import duties and taxes on donated goods.
We facilitate and co-ordinate the customs clearance and delivery of overseas donations of goods to the public-health sector.
We proactively mobilize donor support through targeted campaigns to meet the needs of the public-health sector.
We develop structured, responsive donor programmes that serve the needs of the public-health system and align with donors’ interests.
We align donors’ objectives with the needs of the public health system, ensuring their contributions are meaningful and effective.
We strive for donor engagement that advances fair and just support to health facilities and communities across Jamaica.
We work collaboratively with philanthropic partners and stakeholders (both domestic and international) to support the Ministry of Health and Wellness’s mandate:
